The Warriors bagged the U19 National Cricket championships title, thanks to a superb all-round effort from Young Spartan Cameron Green.

Western Australia won their first under-19s title in 23 years, defeating ACT/NSW Country in the 2016-17 Under 19 National Championships Final in Adelaide yesterday. A superb all-round performance from Cameron Green pushed WA to a six-wicket triumph at Gliderol Stadium, as they claimed the title for the first time since 1993-94.

Before smashing match winning 51 not out of just 23 balls, Green captured 4 wickets too. He was ably supported by another young Spartan – Matthew Spoors who made a patient 42 and laid a solid foundation. Earlier ACT/NSW Country won the toss and elected to bat, but Green and Hope both struck early to reduce them to 2-16. Green later run through the tail and ACT/NSW couldn’t bat out their quota of overs.

While chasing, the warriors were in a spot of slight bother during the middle stages. Green, though, eased any concerns with a scintillating half-century which included eight fours and one six to guide WA to its first U19’s title in 23 years.
