The IPL finals are almost upon us! IPL 8 has been one of the best seasons of the IPL to date and the race to the finals is as hot as ever. The top 6 spots on the ladder are are only separated by 3 points and the finals picture won’t be clear until the very last game of the tournament is played.

Spartan Ambassadors MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle and Eoin Morgan finals hopes are all still alive but not definite. MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings are the only sure thing in terms of a place in the finals but the others have to rely on different outcomes.. Here are the scenarios that need to play out in order for them to get the chance at IPL glory.

MS DHoni and the Chennai Super Kings – CSK are sitting in top position on the ladder having won eight out of the 13 matches they’ve played so far to give them a total of 16 points. Even if they lose against wooden spoon hopefuls the Kings XI Punjab, they will still make the finals. A loss to KXIP however will likely take away their double chance heading into the finals which is a massive advantage to have.

Chris Gayle and the Royal Challengers Bangalore – RCB have won 6 out of their 12 matches to give them a total of 13 points. They are sitting a seemingly lowly 6th on the ladder however they still have two more games remaining. One against Morgans Sunrisers and the other against the Delhi daredevils. If they win both then they will secure a finals birth. If they only win one of the matches then their fate is in the hands of other results and if they lose both then their IPL dreams are crushed.

Eoin Morgan and the Sunrisers Hyderabad – SRH are sitting in third on the ladder having notched 7 wins in their 12 games for 14 points and are in strong contention to make it to the finals. They have two matches remaining one against Gayle’s RCB and the other against Aiden Blizzards Mumbai Indians. If they win both they will have secured a spot in the finals, but like RCB  if they win one and lose the other, they will have to wait for results of other matches to decide whether or not they reach the finals.

The last three days of IPL action before the finals are going to be some of the best we’ve seen with so much riding on every game so don’t miss out!
