Spartan ambassador Chris Gayle has once again made headlines around the world thanks to his explosive batting achievements, with his groundbreaking Spartan bat receiving just as much attention.

Playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on Saturday night, Chris walked out to bat at the Gabba against the Brisbane Heat with a golden bat in hand, the first of its kind anywhere in the world.

Chris received the bat from Spartan just a few days after landing in Australia. The bat contains no traces of metal and adheres to all the laws of cricket.

The night was made extra special for Chris when he became the first person to hit 600 sixes in Twenty20 cricket. He hit two sixes in the third over of the Renegades innings to reach the milestone achievement, in his knock of 23 runs off 16 balls.

Chris’ record is even more impressive considering that Keiron Pollard, who sits second on the list of most sixes in Twenty20 cricket, has hit 388 sixes. The proud Spartan also recently broke the record for the most number of Twenty20 sixes in a calendar year.

Chris will be using the gold Spartan bat right throughout the Big Bash League season, and if his current batting form is any indication, he looks certain to break more records in the near future.
