A power hitting masterclass from Brisbane duo Chris Lynn and Brendan McCullum has rocketed the Heat to a comprehensive seven-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes.

In front of a more than 34-thousand Gabba fans, Lynn and McCullum combined for 11 sixes to chase down the Hurricanes’ 9-173 with more than three overs to spare.

Continuing on his rich vein of form, Lynn thumped 84 not out from 50 deliveries to see the run chase to the end.

After offering an early life, he almost played second fiddle to McCullum in their second wicket stand of 109.

The New Zealander rocketing at a strike-rate of better than 200 in his 72 from 35 deliveries.

But the highlight came on Shaun Tait’s first ball of the evening as Lynn crunched it over the Gabba roof sails at mid-wicket for one of the biggest sixes ever seen in Australia. The host broadcaster measured it at 121m off the bat.

The Heat bowling unit enjoyed its best performance with the ball, with Spartan Mark Steketee again leading the way with 2-29.

He knocked over openers Tim Paine and D’Arcy Short in a fiery opening spell to put the Hurricanes on the back foot early in the match.

Spartan Mitchell Swepson finished with up 1-32 from his four overs in a sharp all round display from Brisbane which keeps them unbeaten at the top of the BBL ladder.
