Chris Gayle, known for his strength, timing, power and brute force with a cricket bat that could carve up any opening pace bowlers in the game. He has smashed records in all forms of cricket especially in the Twenty20 format. Chris Gayle is the first player to have scored a century in international Twenty20 cricket, the only man to score seven or more tons in the Twenty20, and is the leading six-hitter in Twenty20s.
Gayle plays for various Twenty20 teams around the world such as at home in Jamaica in the Caribbean competition and in the Indian Premier League for the Royal Callengers Bangalore which he has single-handedly won matches for. The big man holds almost every big hitting record in the IPL, which includes having the highest individual score (175* off 66 balls in 2013), the most 100s (4), the most sixes (200) and the fastest century (off 30 balls in 2013). Chris Gayle is not only a specialist with the bat in his hands but is also known to be a safe catcher and a handy off-spinner.
Recently in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s first match in the 8th installment of the IPL, Gayle steered his team to a 3 wicket victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders with a score of 96 of just 56 balls, hitting the boundary 7 times on the bounce and also clearing the rope another 7 times. The next match saw Chris play his 70th match in the IPL and also hit his 200th six in the IPL playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gayle launched New Zealand pacer Trent Boult straight down the ground for a maximum, in the opening over of the match to get to the feat. This meant that the left-hander is the first batsman in the history of the League to hit 200 sixes. Chennai Super Kings batsman, Suresh Raina is holding the second spot with 134 sixes.
