Former Australian cricket captain, Michael Clarke is urging sports clubs, schools and communities to apply for the $1 million Balls4All giveaway as part of the ground-breaking partnership between Spartan Sports and the Australian Sports Foundation.

Balls4All is the biggest donation of free sporting goods to clubs, schools and organisations in Australian history, with almost 50,000 items available to clubs.

Spartan Sports and the Australian Sports Foundation have received thousands of initial expressions of interest to receive free rugby league, rugby union and AFL footballs, plus netballs, basketballs, tennis balls, cricket balls and sporting equipment.

The Balls4All application phase is now open and sports clubs, schools and organisations have until midnight AEDT March 31 to submit applications at asf.org.au

Clarke said the this program will help combat Australia’s declining sport participation, and help overcome the alarming growth in obesity.

“This campaign is designed to get children, adults and communities more active, fitter and healthier.” Clarke said.

“The initiative between Spartan Sports and the Australian Sports Foundation is about effecting positive social change. We want to encourage more adults and children to get outdoors and play a sport they can enjoy.”

Balls4All is part of the Sport Foundation’s Giving4Grassroots™ program which was founded by Australian Sports Commission Chairman, John Wylie and continues to receive his generous support.

Sports Foundation Chief Executive, Patrick Walker, said Balls4All goes a long way towards its mission of connecting sport with positive health and social outcomes.

“One in four kids are overweight or obese and this is setting them up for a life plagued with chronic health issues. Thankfully, Spartan Sports’ generous partnership with the Sports Foundation will make the playing of sport more accessible,” Mr Walker said.

Spartan Sports Managing Director, Kunal Sharma, is urging sports clubs, organisations and schools to register for the equipment.

“Never before has a leading sports goods supplier given away $1 million worth of product and equipment. Spartan Sports believes this joint initiative will have a significant impact by increasing sports participation and encouraging adults and children to become more active,” Mr Sharma said.
